ITI Education Night Brazil 2025: science, technology, and community united

By deliberately turning day into night, together the ITI Brazil Section and Straumann took an innovative step in the pursuit of evidence-based science, cutting-edge technology, and community building. Launched June 26, the new ITI Education Night brought together 237 professionals in four cities across Brazil.

Held simultaneously in Porto Alegre (RS), Belo Horizonte (MG), São Paulo (SP), and Recife (PE), each of the four regional events featured two educational sessions:

  • One centered on the ITI’s scientific mission, reinforcing the importance of evidence-based decision-making in clinical practice.
  • One led by Straumann experts, focusing on the latest advances and the launch of the new IExcel implant, a highlight of the evening.

Both sessions were followed by a lively Q&A session, enabling participants to directly engage with speakers, exchange ideas, and clarify insights.

Community growth

Inclusiveness and accessibility motivated the first-time-ever event scheduling to an evening slot outside business hours that opened the doors for more professionals to participate without disrupting their daily schedule.

The new Education Night format created a vibrant space for learning and exchange and also contributed to the growth of the ITI community in Brazil. The event welcomed 45 new ITI members and laid the foundation for the opening of an estimated three new Study Clubs, further expanding opportunities for peer-to-peer learning and local engagement across the country.

Strengthening partnership: the ITI Straumann seal

Education Night also marked the introduction of a special ITI-Straumann seal that symbolizes the shared vision and partnership between science and technology. This initiative reinforces the unity of both organizations in promoting excellence in implant dentistry.

Looking ahead

The success of Education Night has laid the groundwork for the future. With strong participation and overwhelmingly positive feedback, the ITI Brazil Section and Straumann plan to continue with this new evening format in future editions – bringing education, innovation, and collaboration to even more professionals across the country.

Stay tuned for more updates from ITI Brazil and join us in building a stronger, connected community where science and technology meet to shape the future of dentistry.

Extra-oral photogrammetry (EPG): Step-by-step workflow guide

Extra-oral photogrammetry (EPG) is emerging as a reliable alternative to intra-oral scanning for full-arch implant impressions. While IOS performs well in short spans, its accuracy decreases in edentulous arches due to stitching errors and lack of reference points.

EPG overcomes these limitations by capturing implant positions through multi-angle imaging, delivering highly precise 3D data without the need for stitching. However, as it does not record soft tissue, it must be combined with an intra-oral scan to enable complete prosthetic design.
